Join a Volunteer Trip to Costa Rica

Our objective on these trips is fourfold: first and foremost, we aim to carry out our mission of transforming underserved communities by inspiring and enabling remarkable individuals to pursue their dreams; secondly, we strive for a meaningful, authentic cultural exchange between our Costa Rica volunteers and the local people we are serving; third, we travel throughout the area so that our volunteers have an opportunity to see the beautiful country in which they are serving; finally, we have a whole lot of fun. Our goal is to make a positive difference in the lives of the people of these communities while also impacting the lives of our Costa Rica volunteers.

Why you should volunteer In Costa Rica:

  • Transform the lives of hopeful children and their families
  • Join approximately 15-20 other volunteer travelers
  • Help to improve school sites and teach environmental awareness
  • Engage in cultural activities such as tamale making, coffee production and soccer games
  • Be embraced by the people and their culture
  • Explore Costa Rican paradise
  • Relax on the Pacific Coast

Impact the Community while Volunteering in Costa Rica

In the tropical, coffee-producing region of Costa Rica lies a tranquil town called Providencia de Dota. Fun-loving, warm and united is the best way to describe the people of Providencia. They will have you laughing, learning and crying when it's time to say goodbye. Life is simple in Providencia, but very, very rich.

Come volunteer in Costa Rica and help us to educate the children on how to maintain and strengthen their environment, as well as provide them with greater opportunities in their future.

Your desire to empower young people in the developing world to achieve their potential is made possible through these service projects. Focusing on education, economic development and community engagement, Dream Volunteers in Costa Rica implements sustainable development projects. These projects include, school improvement and beautification, library creation, direct classroom instruction, organizing games and activities with children, establishing community-owned businesses and spreading environmental awareness. Family trips typically involve more play-based activities and classroom exercises than manual labor projects.

Trip Benefits and Cultural Exposure

When you're not engaged in meaningful volunteer work, you'll want to immerse yourself in the rich culture and the breathtaking sights of Costa Rica. Volunteer benefits include visiting one of the most beautiful beaches in the world, learn to make tamales, play a volunteer vs. locals soccer game, and explore the world of coffee production.

Volunteer Housing in Costa Rica

Dream Volunteers uses family home stays in Providencia. The home stays are arranged with families who have many years of experience hosting and serving western volunteers. They have been through a vetting process that involves health and safety inspections as well as training. Volunteers receive 3 meals daily (vegetarian and vegan meals are accommodated as well), lodging in a private room, a hot shower and purified water. Living with a host family enables students to participate in family social events, and gives volunteers a unique glimpse into the authentic lifestyle and culture of rural Costa Rica. Although it helps, Spanish is not a requirement on this trip. The families are very used to creative communication with their English-speaking guests.
