Dream Big Now!

Bay Area Summer Service Program
July 13-24, 2020
Free (*Suggested Donation – $400)

Dream Big Now! encourages youth to engage with a network of changemakers who are responding to the impact of COVID-19 by turning their dreams for change into real, measurable impact on both themselves and their local communities. Guided by the same fundamental Dream Volunteers principles that have long been our foundation for global change-making, Dream Big Now is centered on the idea that through peer interaction, service and personal growth, youth can set a new standard for how to meet challenging times with big ideas and open hearts. Participants will work in small groups with an assigned teacher, spending 5 mornings out of the house working on hands-on service projects and 5 mornings at home working through our changemaker curriculum.

Program Elements

At the middle school level, this will be a service and personal growth experience resulting in deeper understanding of the root causes of community issues and the role we can play in addressing them. High school interns will experience the aforementioned elements in addition to acting as junior staff and mentors to the middle schoolers.

  • hands-on community service & impact projects (in groups of 12)
  • in-person peer interaction and collaboration (in groups of 12)
  • online personal growth curriculum: empathy, perseverance, independence, problem-solving, self-confidence, and leadership
  • online cross-cultural connections with international students
  • mentorship/coaching from teacher to high schooler and high schooler to middle schooler
