“I am so thankful I was able to participate in this trip, it was life changing. This experience has given me a whole new perspective on the world AND will allow me to make changes to my lifestyle and start helping out in my hometown.”

— Birmingham, MI High School student

At Dream Volunteers, we are committed to making service travel opportunities accessible to all motivated students and teachers. Every year we give more than 50 student travel grants to help pay for international service travel for students with demonstrated financial need. Together with student fundraising efforts, these grants help pay for students to participate in international service projects with their classmates and peers. Gap Year participants are also eligible to receive financial assistance to help defray the cost of the semester and year-long programs. [Teacher chaperones also receive funding. See our Educators section to learn more.]

We begin reviewing international Service Travel Grant applications on December 1st.
Grants are awarded on a rolling basis and based on demonstrated financial need. Grants defray a portion of the total cost; students are expected to fundraise the remaining portion of the trip fee. Please see funding your trip for suggestions on how to fundraise for your trip.

“We wanted to thank you for the travel scholarship for our daughter. The trip to Costa Rica and her involvement in the club at school are helping her grow and broaden her worldview. These are things that we couldn’t have provided for her on our own and we are so grateful for your program and the amazing work you are doing.”

“There is no education like seeing the world. It is so important for students of all backgrounds to have the opportunity to see a different part of the world beyond their own neighborhoods. I am happy to help support programs that allow all students to participate and have a shared experience with their classmates.”
